Recently, one of those challenges put our team and our equipment to the test, and we came out stronger on the other side.
Taking on New, Complex Work
Not long ago, our team received a new part order from a customer in the aerospace sector. Given the highly regulated nature of this industry, this particular part required a higher level of inspection than we’d previously encountered. While we routinely perform ISO-level inspections for many of our medical customers, this project demanded even tighter tolerances and more comprehensive documentation.
One of the most notable learning curves came when we had to “bubble” the part, a process where every dimension on a part drawing is assigned a bubble number for inspection and reporting. It was a new experience for us, but one we were eager to take on.
To meet this customer’s stringent standards, the KCSP Machine team pushed the limits of our existing tools, utilizing everything from micrometers, calipers, and plug gauges to our highly accurate optical comparator. When faced with tiny lettering that required depth measurements beyond our current capabilities, we reached out to tooling companies, researched specialized equipment, and ultimately sourced the right gauges to get the job done.
In the end, our parts passed aerospace inspection and received full approval from the customer. The success of this project once again proved that our scrappy, intelligent experts always rise to the occasion.

Opening New Doors at KCSP Machine
Before we invested in these capabilities, our team kept a folder of parts we had to decline due to limitations in our equipment. But we’re opening that folder again to find that many of those once out-of-scope parts are now well within our wheelhouse.
